Reflections on 2024
2nd January 2025Well what a year. Once again we enjoyed showing the delights of England and it's unparalleled history with our overseas visitors. One of the highlights was our Wars of the Roses tour where we saw the Battle of Tewkesbury re-enactment with literally thousands of re-enactors taking part!
Steve was thrilled to be introduced to Margaret of Anjou who, true to the spirit of the day, expected Steve to kneel in her presence before giving him the honour of allowing him to talk to her. Another highlight was touring around St Albans and hearing the actual bell that in 1455 sounded the alarm that the Yorkists were attacking the town. The bell that signalled the start of 30 years of war in England.
We remained enthralled with the Globe performances of Shakespeare's plays for the season including a reduced version of Romeo and Juliet for teenagers and Anthony and Cleopatra where the Egyptians used sign language when it was their turn to speak whilst the Romans spoke in English.
In 2024 we had more private tours than ever, along with some returning customers, and it was rewarding to turn people's dreams into reality as we designed the days around their 'must see' and added a few of our recommendations into the mix. We're looking forward to receiving repeat visitors as over the years we have been operating we've made some true friends. We hope that 2025 will see us develop more relationships as we welcome new visitors to this glorious country that is England.
